Tour maps and record store locators for music campaigns

An interactive tour map or record store locator turns tour dates, events or vinyl stock into an explorable map in the artist's visual world. Fans find the nearest show, listening party or shop carrying a specific edition, and the record streams while they browse.

Tour dates and stockist lists are some of the most useful information a campaign has, and they're usually presented as a plain list. A map gives that information a place in the artist's world and gives fans a reason to explore it, not just scan it.

Three kinds of campaign map

Record store locators

Built for vinyl and retail pushes. Fans see which nearby shops carry the record and which editions each one stocks. For Red Hot Chili Peppers' Unlimited Love, the locator lived inside an explorable virtual record store. Avenged Sevenfold's locator mapped which shops carried each vinyl variant, with the album streaming in the experience.

Tour and event maps

Built for tours, listening parties and pop-ups. PUP's Mega City Madness map was illustrated and zoomable, with photos, videos and set lists at each stop. Linkin Park's From Zero event map located listening parties worldwide, with streaming sign-in to pre-save the album while fans explored.

Story maps

Built around the album itself. Sabaton's Legends world map placed each track at the location of the history behind it, so fans could hear the songs and find the vinyl editions available in each country. Billy Strings' Highway Prayers roadmap took a similar journey-based approach.

What makes a map work

  • It looks like the record. Illustration, 3D and motion drawn from the album art make the map part of the campaign rather than a utility page.
  • The music plays. Fans can stream the album from inside the map, so time spent finding a show or a shop is also time spent listening.
  • Each location has depth. Photos, set lists, edition details or story notes at each pin reward exploration beyond the nearest result.
  • It can be updated. Tour dates move and stock changes. Maps are built on a content source the team can edit through the campaign, so new stops and new stores appear without a rebuild.

What to have ready

  • For tours and events: dates, venues, cities and ticket links, plus any photos or set lists you want at each stop
  • For store locators: the stockist list by edition, with addresses, from the label's retail or distribution team
  • Album artwork and visual references, and the streaming accounts to pre-save and follow

Frequently asked questions

Can a store locator show which shops carry a specific vinyl variant?
Yes. When the stockist data includes editions, the map can filter by variant so fans see exactly which nearby shops carry the one they want.
Can tour dates be added after the map launches?
Yes. Locations are managed as content, so new dates, venues and stores can be added through the campaign without rebuilding the experience.
